Team USA Practice Weekend

Web was the only member of Team USA to answer his Captain's call for a practice weekend in Florida, October 1 - 2.  He is glad he did.  The weekend included three rounds of golf at some of the area's best private courses including The Bear's Club (Nicklaus' home course); Ballenisle (Swayze's home club); and Old Marsh (a great Pete Dye design).  The weather, accomodation, food and wine was first-rate.  The hospitality was tremendous and bodes well for a memorable Quaich in June.

Fabric commits to playing for Team USA

US Captain Eric "Swayze" Silagy announced today that Bret "Fabric" Baier and his substantial backside have both signed up to play for Team USA in June.  This bold line-up change resulted in Ladbrokes listing Team USA as a 2.5 point favorite to retain the Quaich in 2012.

During the Quaich 2012 tournament, the players from both countries will be staying at the Marriott Singer Island Resort & Spa (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/pbisg-palm-beach-marriott-singer-island-beach-resort-and-spa/). Situated on the Atlantic, the Marriott Singer Island Resort has its own golden-sand beachfront and two pools --- providing plenty of venues for the Scotsmen to show off their tans and new speedos.

Quaich Dates Announced!

U.S. Captain Eric "Swayze" Silagy announced today that the 2012 Quaich matches will be played from Thursday, June 7 through Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Silagy, a first-time Quaich Captain, said, "South Florida is the perfect venue for Team USA to 'three-peat' over the Scots." Team Scotland, still reeling from a heart-breaking home loss last year, has not announced its captain yet. Inside sources tell us that Graeme "H" Wilson, the 2010 Scottish Captain, has been unceremoniously sacked after failing to lead the heavily favored Scottish team to victory in the last Quaich matches.

Since more than half the US team resides in the southeastern part of the country, playing in the warm temperatures and 98% humidity of Florida in June will be an advantage for the team. "Whoooeeee!" exclaimed James "Sheets" Moreland, who lives in Louisiana, "It'll be hotter than two possums making love in a wool sock!"

The USA has won 3 of the last 5 Quaich competitions including the last two match-ups in 2008 and 2010.
